How to track filament inventory

Track spools, usage, and remaining weight so your inventory supports better pricing and reordering decisions.

Track what matters for each spool

For useful inventory, record the material type, color, brand, starting weight, and remaining weight for each spool.

That makes it much easier to know what is available for the next print and which spools are nearly empty.

Connect inventory to print history

Inventory becomes more useful when it is tied to actual print jobs. That gives you a record of what was used and how quickly it moved.

PrintMate keeps filament inventory and print history together so the next quote starts from better data.

  • Track spool weight as it changes
  • Record color and brand for each roll
  • Keep low-stock warnings visible
  • Reuse the same inventory data for quoting

Worked example

If you start a spool at 1,000 grams and a print uses 140 grams, the remaining inventory is 860 grams.

If a second job uses another 95 grams, the spool is down to 765 grams. That running total is what makes inventory useful for pricing and reordering.
